BB&N MS Family Checklist
Please note: there are key documents on the MS Quickstart site for both parents/guardians and students to sign BEFORE the first day of school
☑️ Pass along any questions for the MS 'Ask a Parent Zoom' on Thursday, August 21, at 6 p.m.?
Please share any questions in advance via this form by Tuesday, August 19
☑️ Help your child complete the Tech pre-work on the MS Quick Start site?
It is important you take these steps so your child can be "tech-ready" for the first day. The most important
piece of the pre-work is having a laptop and access to Gmail. Gmail is how students will receive school communications about
assignments beginning the first week.
Reminder - please carefully review the separate Tech email from Megan Bounit that was sent. These documents do need to be
signed each year!
☑️ Complete and sign the Community Expectations Documents (CED) before the first day of school?
The CED is an important document that outlines the expectations we have of each other as we work together as a community.
We will build on this understanding through conversations and activities during the school year. Our expectation is that you
and your child/children will complete this form and sign by the opening of school in September.
Reminder - please fill out one form for each child if you have multiple children enrolled at the Middle School.
☑️ Complete the Getting to Know Your Child form that was emailed to you in June?
The information from that form is essential to our efforts to learn as much as possible about your child and their learning
style and challenges. If you have not yet done so, please take a few minutes to complete it here.
☑️ Re-establish routines at home?
The first weeks of school can be exhausting for everyone. Anything you can do to help your child get back into the rhythm of
the school year can make the transition easier (i.e., establishing morning/bedtime routines).
☑️ Discuss transportation plans with your child?
Drop-off and pick-up are busy, and logistics can be challenging on our urban campus. The Middle School is nestled into a
neighborhood street in Cambridge. Families and cars all need to follow the directions of our staff and faculty in the parking
lot and on Sparks Street. Our students walk, bike, arrive by bus and T, and are dropped off by parents. Our middle schoolers are
learning greater independence. We are an urban school, and it is essential that you discuss transportation logistics and
after-school plans with your child.
If you are interested in BB&N Transportation but have not yet made those arrangements, please click here.
☑️ Purchase basic school supplies?
On the first day of school, your child/children should bring:
- a laptop
- a backpack
- a pencil case
- refillable water bottle
Students will not need any other supplies on this first day. Going forward, please consult this brief list of supplies your child
will need for school. Your child's teachers may also indicate additional supplies needed in the opening week of school.
☑️ Add the number for our MS Attendance line to your phone - (617)-800-2306?
Make sure you have this number handy! Any time your child will be absent, arrive late, or need to leave early from school, you
must call and leave a message at our MS Attendance line. We do ask that whenever possible, you do not schedule any
appointments during school hours (including during sports), if at all possible.
Reminder - The attendance line is monitored via email. Please leave a voicemail.
☑️ Sign the required Permission Slips for Community Day on Friday, September 5?
Before the first day of school, please be sure to fill out our 2025-26 Permission Slip. This covers all of our standard field trips
& off-campus visits throughout the school year.
For Community Day, the locations of our respective grade-level adventures require additional waivers. Please complete those via
the links provided below:

order for your child to participate. BOTH the waiver & the BB&N Permission Slip form are due by Wednesday, September 3.
