Video Conferencing

Video conferencing to communicate with students.

  1. Provide students the opportunity to interact with you using voice & video.

  2. Answer questions about what has been assigned to students to learn.

  3. Provide live instruction to individuals or groups of students.

  4. A general question and answer session.

Notes

  1. Allows meetings up to 40 minutes long.

  2. Allows the meetings to be recorded.

What You’ll Need

  1. Laptop, Chromebook, or desktop with camera.

  2. A free Zoom account for the person hosting the meeting.

  3. Access to Gmail or Google Classroom.

What Students Need

  1. Laptop, Chromebook, or desktop with camera.

  2. Be signed into your G-Suite account.

  3. Access to Gmail or Google Classroom.

Giving Students Access

  1. Create a Topic in Google Classroom specifically titled Virtual Class Session.

  2. Create a separate assignment for each Virtual Class Session.

  3. After scheduling your Zoom meeting, copy and paste the unique URL in Classroom assignment.

  4. Save the Assignment for students to access.

  5. Students click on link in the Assignment to join the Virtual Classroom Session at the designated time.

Recording the Virtual Classroom Session

  1. When creating the Virtual Classroom Session, click on the box that says, “Record the meeting automatically on the local computer.”

  2. Following the online meeting, Zoom will download a video file.

  3. Add the video file to the correct Google Classroom assignment.
