The Intermezzo Orchestra is mainly the 7th Grade students enrolled in Orchestra. We are considered an INTERMEDIATE level Orchestra consisting of students who have been reading music for 2 years. Specific Goals to accomplish this year are to put more of an emphasis of enhancing left and right hand skills (advanced fingering and bowing skills) and more ensemble cohesiveness to name a few goals. Students must have Book III Essential Techniques and their Orchestra music each day in class.
The Sinfonia Orchestra is at the highest level for Middle School. The majority of students are 8th Grade level students. More of our focus is reviewing and reinforcing what we already have learned, but more emphasis is applying this to our performances. This includes enhancing good ensemble playing and performance skills each day, preparing for HS auditions, and preparing for outside events with either solo/small ensemble work or large group adjudicated events and competitions, and preparing students to enter the High School Orchestra with a good sense of confidence before they fly from the Middle School Orchestra nest.
