First Grade

Mrs. French

Dear Families,

Thank you for your partnership as we work together to make this a positive and productive school year.  Together, we will create a wonderful learning experience for your child so he/she will continue to grow and develop the skills and mindset for a life AND love of learning.

About Me

As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher.  My parents were both teachers.  A visit to my mom’s classroom is one of my happiest childhood memories.  She would give me extra worksheets, markers, and stickers to use at home.  I even set up a classroom in the basement and played school with my younger sisters.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Baldwin-Wallace College and my Master’s degree in administration from The University of Akron.

I have spent the last 28 years teaching in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District.  My experience includes teaching in a regular classroom and working as an intervention specialist.  I have worked with students in every grade level ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

I am married to a wonderful man, Mr. French, and we have four amazing children.  Melia is in 11th grade.  She plays the clarinet in the marching band and loves art.  Nora is in 9th grade and enjoys cheerleading and playing her viola.  Liam is in 5th grade and enjoys taekwondo and playing with legos.  Dylan is in 1st grade and likes being active and learning new things.  He is currently learning to skateboard and do a handstand!  We care for a stray outdoor cat named Callie, and she surprised us with two beautiful kittens named Ellie and Gus.

My Favorite Things...

When I'm not at school, I like to be at home with an iced coffee watching the birds and butterflies in my flower gardens.  My favorite book is Anne of Green Gables, and I like the movie Hidden Figures.   I sing along to show tunes while I do chores.  When I leave my house, I like to find a park, garden, or nature center to explore.
