During Readers' Workshop, students will be reading and exploring a wide variety of genres to help expand their knowledge and practice skills. Time in class consists of a mini-lesson, independent reading time (with writing about reading), one-on-one conferences with the teacher, small group instruction and a share/closure. Student's should have an independent reading book at all times. Sadlier Vocabulary Program will be utilized to build and enhance student vocabulary in both reading and writing.
During Writers' Workshop, students will be exploring a variety of writing genres to help build on their writing skills. Time in class consists of a mini-lesson, independent writing time, one-on-one conferences with the teacher, small group instruction, and a share/closure.

Students should spend 10 minutes on homework each night. Every week students will have an IXL skill that they will need to complete.
If they finish the skill, they can spend the rest of their time doing the following:
reading a book club book or a book of their choice
working on classwork
Students should also take time to study the night before vocabulary tests. Students can study using:
Study guides (given by teacher at the beginning of the unit)

Quizlet
Flashcards
