We arrived there at 9:40 to get seats on the first row. The session started on time from 10:30 am. We were interested to attend to this session because it is about digital marketing and we are both very much interested to learn about it.
The Venue (Celebrity)
The host for the seminar introduced himself and said that, the seminar would be less of the kind of technical talks and more of the kind of people coming to the stage and sharing their success stories.
The first person who came on stage is Md. Jahid Hasan. He is an Amazon Affiliate and SEO Expert. ( As far as we know, Amazon’s Affiliates help people who are web developers with track records of past years, it gives chance for them to earn referral fees by referring their customers to buy products from trusted sites by referring those sites first in the web search. And SEO; Search Engine Optimization Experts help people to gain customer engagement and attract customers through web traffic.) At the very beginning of his work life he joined a very renowned digital marketing company of Bangladesh. There besides technical knowledge he learned about project handling. At the beginning he was very happy with his job, but then he started facing work life conflict. He wanted to do something for his own, because whatever he was doing, he is doing for his client, not for his own self. The work demand of his company from him was much, but the demand of clients were also more. So after 3 years working there, he quit the job, and started to do something for his own. At first he started to work with multiple sites, but soon he realized that, he have to focus on one thing at first otherwise he could not develop expertise about it. He thinks this is the main reason that e focused only in one site that now from that site he earned more than 1 lac taka within only 8 months. Another thing that he followed, that is he was focused on doing only vertical marketing, focusing only on one industry or product. He also said that, one should not be impatient, patience is a must and also dedication is necessary for success.
The next person who came up on stage is Nasir Uddin Shamim. He has an experience of more than 8 years in SEO arena. His first website on 2009 was a massive failure though h invested more than $2000 on it. But his second website was a big success as he followed the design strategy, content strategy of a very renowned website of India. But this days, we see a pool of information around us. So we face difficulties to choose which topic to work with, which niche to choose. Mostly the youngsters in the industry face problems like this. So better to follow a renowned website, track that website, their activities, research on it, than make decision about your niche, plan on it, that’s how developing strategy towards it won’t be difficult. Grab a niche idea from the market, and build your own niche plan from it. The first mistake that new comers do, is competing with big websites. He discussed about some technical tack ticks to overcome the mistake. He also talked about giving unique Meta description consisting of number and unique words (the description that we see in the search page under the title of the search result). Because when someone searches for something, he does not click on the search result blindly, he at first reads the title and then the description under it that if it matches with the content that he is searching for. So whenever a site gets most of the clicks, what Google does, it push that site from the second position to the first position, where the renowned site was on the first page of the search result. That’s how you get maximum reach. Another thing that Google does is, it pushes the result or website on the first place, whether it was on second or third place based on time dwelling, the maximum time spent on a site by a user compared to the other sites from the same search result page. We should give a short description before every article in the website so that the user will know that what he is going to read about, what he will know from the article. Example can be like this that I have researched about this idea, this can be helpful for your product buying decision. That’s how we can get maximum dwelling time. At the end, we have to track our website, its performance day to day. At the end of his speech, he shared his website where he makes vlog teaching affiliate marketing free of cost.
Then K M Rafiqul Islam came up on stage. He shared his story about how he earned more than $10 million only in one year through online marketing. In 2011 he first saw a news on newspaper about a freelancer who earns 2-2.5 lac taka a month by doing freelancing, this news got him excited, and he was then only in first year of his college. From then whenever he gets a news about freelancing and outsourcing he used to read them all. After getting admitted to Dhaka University in 2014, he then bought his first computer and started his journey. He was interested on SEO. He then got two course from online which were from Bangladeshi web developers and weren’t very beneficial. In a year, he only got $10 in total from his freelancing works. His dedication, interest and his desire of learning was the key behind his success. He also joined communities, groups, read articles, cases regarding his interests, time to time.
The session ended with an encouraging speech from our honorable Additional Secretary of ICT department Mr. Rashidul Islam.
The session was mostly about of technical prospects of Digital Marketing, discussions were about web developing, web site developing and all. The discussions were more of a kind of advanced level. From a business background, we were more interested to hear about contents that we could relate with business. That’s why, most of the parts of the session were beyond our knowledge.
