HAIR, MAKEUP AND COSTUMES
For our junior dancers with long hair, dancers will need to have hair in a bun, except if they are ONLY in hip hop, in which case they can wear hair in a ponytail.
See our video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Cujw875zc
You can purchase hair kits with all the bits and bobs you need from reception.
If your dancer has short hair, they should style it as suits them, or you can discuss with your child's teacher.
Our junior dancers are not required to wear any makeup, however they can if they want to. No glitter or glitter hair spray.
All elements of costumes are provided to your dancer, including tights (if necessary). The only thing dancers need to provide is undergarments and the appropriate dance shoes.
Ballet - ballet shoes
Jazz - black jazz shoes
Tap - black tap shoes
Hip Hop - all-black (or close to all-black) sneakers
Acro - no shoes
Contemporary - no shoes
All dancers should travel to and from the theatre in comfortable, closed-in shoes, which they should keep on their feet until it is time to get ready to go onstage.
FAQ JUNIOR DANCERS
Due to restrictions in place by the Sleeman Centre, we can't have parents or family members watching on rehearsal day. It makes Concert Day even more exciting!
To make life easy, we will include a deposit for each class on your Term 3 invoice ($69 for one dance, $99 for two dances, $129 for three or more dances). The balance of the deposit will be due with your Term 4 invoice. Don't forget we offer the option of fortnightly payments via Integrapay. Is your dancer in lots of classes? We are happy to help spread your concert participation and costume payments over Terms 3 and 4. Email us at hello@baysidedance.com.au for more info.
We believe the concert experience helps build self-esteem and confidence. The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps dancers develop retention skills, and by working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working as a team to create the best end result. If you don't wish to participate, please email us at hello@baysidedance.com.au to have it removed from your Term 3 invoice prior to the invoice due date.
Payment of the deposit is confirmation that your dancer will be taking part in the concert. Please note that because of ordering timelines, we are not able refund your Concert Package if you change your mind.
Dancers in Prep Jazz/Tap will perform two dances, but will wear one costume and just change their shoes and accessories.
Everyone in your group, including children (babies under 1 included). There must be a seat available for every human in the theatre. Kids under 2 years old are free. You do not need to purchase a ticket for your dancer as dancers will remain backstage.
If your dancer is unwell on the day, they should not attend. If this is the case, please email us and we'll arrange a refund of your tickets purchased (we cannot refund the Concert Package).
Yes! Everyone will receive a copy of the video (allow 6-8 weeks for editing). We send you the video directly via a link. Participation in the concert means you agree for your dancer to be filmed and photographed.
We'll be in touch with families who have dancers split across multiple age groups to let you know how we can assist.
