College Credit Plus (CCP) is Ohio's dual-enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits simultaneously by taking courses from Ohio universities. This provides a wide variety of options to college-ready students at no or limited costs to students and families.

Ohio has approved certain college courses through Transfer Assurance Guides (TAG). If you are planning to transfer from one Ohio public college or university to another, TAG courses will guarantee transfer of pre-major and beginning major coursework in your intended major. Thirty-six Ohio colleges and universities have entered into the Ohio Transfer Promise, under which these schools agree to accept and utilize any course whose learning outcomes have been approved by statewide transfer faculty panels as if it were taken at our institution even if we have no corresponding course. In order to guarantee that your CCP credit will transfer and apply as college credit in the future, strongly consider taking courses through an Ohio Transfer Promise School and TAG courses. You are welcome to take any CCP class at any participating CCP institution - perhaps out of intellectual curiosity, getting a required high school credit out of the way to make room for a different class in your schedule, etc. - just be aware that not all credits will transfer to all schools.

This tool helps students to determine which CCP courses transfer to various Ohio public institutions of higher education.

BHS offers several CCP classes onsite, taught by BHS teachers. Students are not limited to taking on the CCP class offered on-site. Students may also participate in CCP online, or at any other participating institutions of higher education. For eligible students choosing to participate in CCP off-site, transportation is not provided by the school district, nor are reimbursement costs for transportation. Transportation and associated costs are the sole responsibility of the student and parents/guardians.

The subject matter of a course enrolled under the CCP program may include mature subject matter or materials, including those of a graphic, explicit, violent, or sexual nature, that will not be modified based upon CCP enrollee participation regardless of where course instruction occurs.

CCP classes count as actual college credit and will appear on students' future college transcripts, regardless of how a student performed.

Students wishing to pursue this option must attend a mandatory information meeting prior to enrolling in CCP.

Pros and cons of CCP Classes

Choosing your CCP classes

Please choose your classes wisely and be aware that all grades in a CCP class will appear on college transcripts. Failing a College Credit Plus class will result in the family being responsible for the cost of the class. In addition, students dropping the class after the college approved date will be responsible for all costs associated with the class. Students who drop a CCP course will be expected to immediately enroll in a Bay High School course or an approved on-line course in order to maintain a full course load.

It would also be beneficial to consider where you may want to go to college after high school. Here is a complete list of Where BHS's CCP Credits Are Accepted.

1. Will College Credit Plus grades appear on my high school transcript?

Yes. High school credit awarded for courses successfully completed under College Credit Plus will appear on your high school transcript. Courses successfully completed under College Credit Plus must be listed by course title on the high school transcript. All College Credit Plus courses will be computed into the GPA using the same scale as Advanced Placement classes.

2. Is the college credit I earned in high school through CCP guaranteed to transfer to another postsecondary institution?

Thanks to Ohio’s Transfer to Degree Guarantee, many entry-level course credits earned at an Ohio public college are guaranteed to transfer to any other Ohio public college. Credits earned at private colleges, or those that you want to transfer to an out-of-state institution, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the institution you are seeking to attend. Go to the Ohio Transfer to Degree Guarantee website to learn more about credit transfer among the state’s public institutions of higher education. This tool allows you to find the best pathways to completing your degree and launching a successful career. Earning college credit will not affect applications for financial aid/scholarships limited to entering freshmen.

3. When I apply to a public college or university, am I considered a first-time student or a transfer student?

Students who take CCP courses before graduating from high school are still considered first-time students when applying for college. Contact the colleges/universities that you attended while in high school to request official transcripts to be sent to your new institution so that completed courses can be evaluated for transfer credit.

4. Can I take courses during the summer?

The College Credit Plus Program includes courses taken during the summer term. The summer term will apply as the first term of the next school year. If you want to participate during a summer term, you must submit your letter of intent to participate early enough (between February 15 and April 1) to apply and gain admission to the college and register for course(s) in the spring. Many college summer terms begin in May.

5. What are my academic and social responsibilities?

You will be expected to follow the rules and regulations set by the college/university. You will also be expected to follow the rules and regulations set for high school students detailed in the student handbook. Once enrolled, you are eligible to receive advising from campus-based support services of that institution. Additionally, you will continue to have access to your school counselor and all other resources available to high school students. Participation in College Credit Plus does not guarantee you admission to college after high school. You should follow the regular undergraduate application process for whatever college you plan to attend after high school.
