COLLEGE APPLICATION Checklists

9th Grade

❏ Consider joining a club or sport that you'd like to get involved with during your high school years.

❏ Create your Naviance account.

Use Naviance to search for colleges and careers that interest you.

❏ Take the PSAT.

Schedule 10th grade classes that will challenge and interest you and fit your future goals. Consider pathways you are likely to take regarding AP classes.

10th Grade

FALL SEMESTER

Consider taking a leadership position in a club or organization that you are involved with.

Take the PSAT.

Consider your options for enrollment in West Shore Career-Tech program.

SPRING SEMESTER

❏ Schedule 11th grade classes that will challenge and interest you and fit your future goals.

Check SAT/ACT testing dates and locations for the upcoming school year. Decide which dates work best for you.

❏ Think about using ACT/SAT preparation resources, such as Khan Academy SAT Prep. 

SUMMER

Consider visiting colleges over school breaks.

11th Grade

FALL SEMESTER

❏ Consider taking a leadership position in a club or organization that you are involved with.

Use Naviance under the "Career" tab to explore career interest profiles and personality inventories. 

Consider what college majors might fit well with your interests and goals.

Think about using ACT/SAT preparation resources, such as Khan Academy SAT Prep. 

Schedule campus visits to explore colleges you are interested in.

Take the PSAT if interested in being eligible for the National Merit Competition.

Explore the "SuperMatch College Search" tool on Naviance.

SPRING SEMESTER

❏ Attend CCP/AP Night at Bay High School on January 24, 2024.

❏ Attend College Night at Bay High School on February 5, 2024.

Take the free School Day SAT at Bay High School on March 6, 2024.

❏ Schedule 12th grade classes that challenge and interest you and fit your future goals.

❏ If interested in CCP classes, submit Intent to Participate Form by April 1, 2024.

Update your Personal Resume with activities, sports, clubs, awards, and honors received this school year.

❏ Check SAT/ACT testing dates and locations. Decide which dates work best for you and take test(s). Bring college codes to have your scores sent.

Ask 1-3 teachers if they would be willing to write you a Letter of Recommendation.

❏ Create a CommonApp account using a personal (non-Bay) email address.

SUMMER

❏ Consider getting involved with an internship, CCP courses, research project, or pre-college summer programs.

❏ Consider visiting the colleges you are interested in.

❏ Start filling out the CommonApp starting August 1, 2024.

12th Grade

FALL SEMESTER

❏ Register for the ACT/SAT if you have not taken it or choose to take it again.

❏ Fill out the CommonApp starting August 1.

Attend college representative presentations at BHS for any colleges you are interested in. Sign up on Naviance.

Make final visits to schools you are interested in.

❏  Match your CommonApp with your Naviance account.

❏ Update where you applied in Naviance.

Request Letters of Recommendation in Naviance.

Pay attention to college deadlines, particularly Early Decision, Early Action, and Scholarship deadlines.

Attend Financial Aid Night at BHS.

Fill out the FAFSA as soon after October 1 as possible to be eligible for federally funded grants, loans, and work study.

Make sure your SAT/ACT scores have been sent directly to the colleges to which you are applying.

SPRING SEMESTER

Update where you applied in Naviance.

Review acceptances and compare financial aid packages.

Continue working hard in school. Colleges will see your final transcript.
