The Bay Area is home to some of the best ranchers and farmers in the country, yet many residents still do not have access to fresh, high-quality food.
The meat industry is noncompetitive because it relies on unsustainable and damaging practices, like factory farming, that damage the environment and contribute to climate change. Supporting local agriculture is important because it helps to build a more regenerative food system that is better for the planet, the livestock, and the people.
BAR-N was founded to change this situation and create a model with a foundation for supporting its local agriculture. The organization will work with local ranchers and farmers to produce high-quality protein, which it will then distribute to local charities and community organizations such as the successful Farm to Pantry program. By partnering with local ranchers and farmers, BAR-N will be able to provide nutrient-dense food at an affordable price. Additionally, by working with other local nonprofits, BAR-N can expand its reach and better serve the broader community.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, BAR-N can provide tax breaks to donors who wish to support our mission. We can also apply for grants and other funding opportunities to help support our work.
