Using mind maps is another great technique to help you structure your notes. Using a mindmap means that you have to REDUCE the notes down that you have into manageable chunks of information. A mindmap allows you to LINK key information on one topic together and can be made with text and pictures whichever helps you to remember the information best.

A braindump is a simple and effective methods to help you check how much you can remeber about a topic. It is easy to complete and all you need is a blank piece of paper. It has been described as a small strategy with a big impact.

Self quizzing is another great way to help you recall topic content.
Past papers are a great way to get used to applying your knowledge to the exam questions. It also gets you into the habit of answering questions in the style that the examiner wants. It allows you to check your strengths and weaknesses and use this to highlight key factors in your mindmaps and flashcards. They challenge you to apply your knowledge and often put you out of your comfort zone, this can be difficult at first but is a proven method to help create exam success.
