1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module continues on from your level 5 introduction to the discipline as a whole, looking in detail at recent experimental and applied work in music psychology as specific case studies to inform your own research. You will pursue your own particular research interests and develop these into running your own original experiment or replicating an existing experiment. Emphasis is on the knowledge and experience of music psychology methodology, experimental design, qualitative and mixed-methods, the planning and execution of your own experiment, data collection, analysing results and discussing the implications of your work within the context of existing similar studies.
The module aims to:
Encourage and facilitate your own in-depth research into an topic of your choice
Give you the tools and skills to run an experiment, analyse and discuss your findings
Relate your own research to existing work in your area
2. Outline syllabus:
Music Psychology topics will be guided by your specific areas of interest. There will be a number of sessions focused on research methodology and experimental design and analysis.
