Independent Jazz Research. The aim of this module is to develop your independent thinking skills and performance practices with an emphasis on improvisation in the jazz idiom. This module is the culmination of the previous Jazz studies 1,2 & 3 modules and will help you to develop your own voice through detailed research into your chosen area of jazz. This research might be for a particular instrument, composer or era. You will undertake a detailed study of the music of your chosen area, including transcriptions, arrangements, and performances.
2. Outline syllabus
You will develop your area of expertise within a chosen era, composer, performer, or style of jazz, and will bring the progress of this study to the weekly workshops to further your confidence and critical awareness of leading your own ensemble.
