1. Brief description and aims of module:
Part one of a two-part extended industry project, with module PUB6001-20 ‘Publishing Industry Project’ forming the second part.
This module guides you in laying the groundwork (part one) for the successful completion (in part two) of an in-depth project, working individually or as a member of a group. This is an opportunity to carry out a research process to develop innovative, imaginative, professional standard work on an industry project to address specific problems, questions and/or opportunities. This might be informed by, or potentially offer solutions, through the use of new and emerging technology. You can choose to develop your own project or respond to a live brief set by one of our industry collaborators.
Those in groups will carry out an additional early stage of considering the skillset within the group and developing specific roles and responsibilities for each group member (and these can be reconsidered as the project develops).

Creative problem-solving, new technology, and the journalism and publishing industry
Research methodology and ethics
Literature review
Primary and secondary industry sources
Presentation of research
Project planning and management
3. Teaching and learning activities:
Learning will be through workshops, tutor-supported individual or group project work, progress reviews and feedback.
Teaching and Learning resources include technical demonstrators and specialist facilities; Library learning resources, online library resources/ access to international trade and academic journals and reference works; and websites.
