Please note that in order to take this module you must have studied FTV6100-20 Advanced Post Production I.

1. Brief description and aims of module:

Advanced Post Production II will build on the key skills developed in Advanced Post Production II.

Students will discover the differences between TV and Film within post-production. The module will look closely at how media is acquired in film and television and how the visuals and audio are post-produced. You will gain experience in ‘on set’ understanding and how ’dailies’ are produced and what that means for directors and cinematographers. In this module, you will gain clear knowledge and technical expertise, building on the content taught in Advanced Post Production I.

2.Outline syllabus:

The workshops and seminars will cover:

Post-Production 2

• Offline/Online and working within Film and understanding the differences between TV and Film

• Editing: Assembly, Rough cut, Fine cut, Finishing

• Advanced Grading

• Sound Design; Dialogue Editing; ADR; Mixing

• Deliverables for Film/ TV

• Advanced Audio and Visual Workflows

• Working from Production Deliverables

• Surround Sound and DCP Packages

3.Teaching and learning activities:

The module will use a mixture of lectures and production workshops.

The lectures will teach you the advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of post-production techniques and deliverables for film and television. The lectures in this module will build on the content learned in Advanced Post-Production I and will give students the opportunity to discuss and analyse differences between both disciplines.

The production workshops will enable you to practice the techniques that are taught in the lectures and enable them to post-produce material to an industry-standard level.

Assessment Item 1:

• Assessment Type: CW

• Description: A completed piece of Film or Television production along with a brief reflective account of work (5000 words equivalent)
