1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module is intended to provide students with the opportunity to undertake research into one or more areas of the film, TV and related digital industries. In the process, you will develop their research skills and identify industry areas and roles which might be suitable entry-level career destinations. As such the module is designed to enhance student employability and develop the ‘industry ready’ qualities of FTV graduates. This research can be reflected in either a Report or a Creative Artefact.
2.Outline syllabus:
The module will consist of a combination of lectures, workshops and individual tutorials. Lectures will focus on a range of industry topics, including industry histories and geographies, industry career profiles and in depth analysis of job roles and skillsets. Some attention will also be given to financial practices in the film and TV industries and to developing technical and creative innovations in relevant industry sectors.
3.Teaching and learning activities:
Plenary, workshop and individual supervised sessions, together with visiting lecturer workshops. In ideation sessions students will frame research questions and work with individual supervisors in developing a research presentation and a Research Report.
