1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module aims to enable FTDP students to work with students across a number of practice related subject areas (e.g. Acting, Theatre Production, Music, Creative Writing etc.) across BSU in the spirit of liberal arts, in order to encourage peer learning, teamwork and practice through the coordinated production of a large scale artefact in studio production.
You will be required to work to industry standard practices within defined roles. You should be able to demonstrate, clearly, your ability to work in a group; identifying roles and designing, planning and delivering a project successfully. The module provides a platform on which students develop industry specific skills, identifying team roles and using team-building theory, and engage creatively with the specialist skill sets of students from other subject areas.
2.Outline syllabus:
The ‘ambitious project’ and its audience
Understanding the ‘big group’ working experience
The project idea: identifying specialist artistic and technical skills for the project.
Project structure: developing a framework in collaboration with other subject areas.
Timelines, budgets, effectiveness and viability.
Defining, adopting and developing roles for production
Teambuilding and creative engagement
The event: structure, planning and delivery
Project reception: reflection and critical evaluation
3.Teaching and learning activities:
A combination of seminars, workshops, brainstorming sessions, discussions and collaborative team exercises will contribute to the learning experience in this module. You will research and design projects, and will receive individual and group support in the form of tutorial and peer learning exercises. Support will be provided throughout the preproduction, production, postproduction and delivery stages.
