1. Brief description and aims of module:
In this module, you will make choices about the direction your work is taking. This is the first self-directed project of your third year, and the point at which you will start to articulate your career aims within furniture and product design. This module is an opportunity to explore and challenge your ideas within the parameters of a well-defined project. You will be responsible for management of your project and there is also an opportunity to further your material and technical / production knowledge.
2.Outline syllabus:
You will start to define your own direction within furniture and product design, with tutor support, in response to a choice of themes or industry briefs. You will be supported in developing your project through in-depth research, deepening your understanding of the context for your project. You will seek opportunities to externalise your research and practice, such as working with a user group, initiating dialogue with a mentor, design professional, outworkers or potential producers, or employers.

Staff presentations and workshops
Group and individual tutorials
Study trips and / or gallery visits
Personal presentation, display and documentation of work
Independent working on directed project work
Active participation in taught sessions and directed learning
