Provide a professional working environment appropriate for Live Music TV panel show
Foster a positive approach to collaborative working and practice
Advance student ability to work to an industry standard
2.Outline syllabus
This module recognises that by working together in a professional production scenario with students from associated disciplines, you will develop your underlying skills and knowledge. Concurrently, you will develop a broader appreciation of your own discipline and a different aspect of industry practice.
This module defines a Live Music TV show as a live recording of a multiple musical ensembles/artists. Both the visual performance and the audio will be captured. The entire show will run as a live broadcast/stream in the style of shows such as ‘Later with Jool’s Holland’.
Over the course of the module students devise the format, trial is and develop it. Concurrently design, technical, management and film teams prepare for the manufacture, installation and shoot of the programme. Consider jingles and indent links with composers, etc. Subsequently, film crews and - where appropriate - composers and technical teams process a final cut of the piece.
Each student group engages in the project at different stages of the process. Roles include set design, construction, lighting design/operation, Audio sound roles (both live and recorded, Presentation, performance, direction, etc.
3.Teaching and learning activities
This module mirrors professional rehearsal, production and performance processes. The format of delivery observes the union-defined working patterns. Workloads do not exceed 48 hours in any one week and presume an overall contract of 2 weeks.
Industry professionals lead the project, while teaching staff advise each group of students. In the early developmental stages writer and actors work autonomously with some tutor guidance to help develop the scenario. Simultaneously, production students begin the process of design, plotting and technical preparation. All elements come together for the shoot. During post-production music and editing with the possible addition of ADR are key.
Staff give you formative feedback throughout the process, observing the professional process of rehearsal or production meeting notes.
The summative assessment is your contribution to the finished production. Be this (although not limited to this) a realised design, a prompt copy, a script, a score, a performance, edited film, camera plot or technical design and execution, etc.
