This module is a pre-requisite of the Level 6 module MUS6106-20 Music Psychology – Applied and Experimental.
1. Brief description and aims of module:
Music Psychology gives you an overview of recent research in the area together with more in depth case studies from journals. You are encouraged to pursue your own particular research interests and to develop these into a research paper on one of the areas covered in the course.
2. Outline syllabus
Areas covered in Music Psychology include the origins and function of music, perception, emotional response, recent developments in neuropsychology, musical development and the development of musical competence and skill, performance, the role of music in everyday life and music therapy.
