Activity 2

Aims

Instill an understanding of the size of space.
Encourage the students to be more curious about Physics via a fascination of Space.
Aim for the visiting students to have fun at our stall, associating positive memories with Physics.

SMART Objectives

For the students to come away from the event with at least one ‘show & tell’ fact.
Have spoken more in depth to at least 10 students who’ve shown a keen interest
Have 300 stars pinned to the board
For at least one of the students to have recommended our stall to a friend

Activity 3

Aims

Challenge preconceptions of women in science
Highlight the importance of research into measuring astronomical distances
To encourage an enthusiasm & fascination for space

SMART Objectives

For the audience to leave knowing about the achievements of women in Physics, specifically Henrietta Leavitt.
For the audience to be understand what Cepheids are and what they help to show
For the audience to be encouraged to further educate themselves about Space.
