I was curious about asking what was seen while watching the moon landing because it often feels like a very big moment that is hard to conceptually understand. When thinking more about it I realized that there must have been a lot of technology involved in the broadcast itself. It sounds like there was a huge science communication effort for the landing which I didn't expect. Having journalists who could walk the public through technology and science is really important. There was open communication with NASA scientists who had the skills to explain it directly to the public. Given the lack of trust in today's scientific institutions, I wonder how this can be recreated in the future. What was seen on TV likely changed the narratives about the moon landing. It also sounded much more transparent than the Soviet version we talked about in class.
