Anna Wells Piotti Castonguay

Asst. Director of the Center of Inclusive Teaching and Learning

Bates College

I am from Unity, Maine and am the proud child of John F. Piotti and Susan A. Piotti, as well as the sibling of John S. Piotti. I attended Bowdoin College (2012-2016), where I earned a BA with high honors in German and Teaching. I played for the college's varsity rugby team, but switched to marathons while teaching English at HBLA Ursprung in Salzburg (2016-2017) as part of Fulbright Austria and WWOOFing at Spannocchia in Tuscany (2017). I completed a dual title PhD in Germanic Linguistics and Language Science at Penn State (2018-2023) and then accepted the position of inaugural Assistant Director of the Center of Inclusive Teaching and Learning at Bates College (2023). I met my person, Dr. Alexander Castonguay, in grad school. We are married (2023) and have two fur-monsters: Kuma the kitty and Pippin the bunny. At least, for now, I've switched to triathlons and we've just put in a new vegetable garden to keep me busy.

I use my middle name Wells professionally and use both she/her and they/them pronouns.
