COACH ELIGIBILITY

COACHING REQUIREMENT DEADLINES

*All coaches must have NCCP Requirements fully complete 2 days following the final in-person clinic offered.

NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NCCP) REQUIREMENTS

All coaches appearing on a Provincial Roster must complete Baseball Alberta mandated NCCP courses corresponding to the age group and level of play.

Baseball Alberta accreditation meets the requirements for participating as a head or assistant coach at all levels of Baseball Canada and Western Canadian Baseball Association Championships. For 'AAA' & 'AA' Teams, coaching accreditation will be reviewed upon the submission of initial rosters.

Note: Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Online Evaluation must be completed before deadline dates for coaches at specific divisions/categories, as outlined in the Coaching Requirements Chart. Coaches requiring this component of certification should visit the Baseball Canada NCCP Website and head to the link for the MED Online Evaluation. Coaches who have taken the Teaching and Learning Clinic will be able to access this evaluation free of charge. Coaches who fail to complete the MED evaluations by the deadline date will be removed from their roster.

All coaches (with the exception of 'A' Assistant Coaches) appearing on a Provincial Roster MUST be registered in the NCCP system. Simply go to the Baseball Canada NCCP Website. New coaches will be required to pay $37.45 to enter the system and receive access to the Coach Initiation in Sport Module. Coaches will then have a choice to take either Coach Initiation in Baseball (Rally Cap) or Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals), depending on what level they plan to coach. Completing Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) Online Module will enable coaches to register for in-person workshops. Coaches who have already taken the Level 1 Technical in the old NCCP system may check the box stating they have done so and the $37.45 fee will be waived.

Coaching accreditation will be checked once initial rosters are submitted. The Baseball Alberta Office will provide info to all coaches not meeting the accreditation requirements advising them of what NCCP workshops are required in order to be approved onto the roster. Coaches still needing accreditation will be sent a final warning and be advised of final workshop times Baseball Alberta is offering or where to find a required course online to meet requirements. NCCP requirements must be fulfilled before the Coaching Requirements Deadline that coach will NOT be allowed on the field.

House League Coaches

Coach accreditation will be administered by the local Association.

All coaches on provincial rosters MUST be registered in the NCCP baseball system. Simply go to www.nccp.baseball.ca/register.php and register. New coaches will be required to pay $37.45 to enter the system and receive access to the Coach Initiation in Baseball (Fundamentals) module. Once this module is completed, they will have access to register in any scheduled NCCP baseball workshop in Alberta. Coaches who have already taken the Level 1 Technical in the old NCCP system may check the box stating that they have done so, and the required fee will be waived.

ALL NON-COMPLIANT COACHES WILL BE REMOVED FROM ROSTERS

SAFE SPORT E-LEARNING / RESPECT IN SPORTS

All Head Coaches listed on a provincial roster are required to complete the Safe Sport E-Learning online module. All 'AA' and 'AAA' Assistant Coaches are also required to complete the Safe Sport E-Learning online module. This module is accessible through the CAC locker or via a link on your status page at nccp.baseball.ca. All 'A' Assistant Coaches are required to complete Safe Sport E-Learning online module or Respect in Sport. While coaches on a provincial roster are no longer obligated to complete the Respect in Sport online module, Baseball Alberta strongly recommends that associations make it mandatory for their House League coaches to complete the Respect in Sport module.

For 'AAA' & 'AA' Teams, coaching accreditation will be verified upon the submission of initial rosters. Coaches not meeting the accreditation requirements will receive an email from the Baseball Alberta Executive Director, detailing the necessary steps for compliance. Safe Sport E-Learning requirements must be fulfilled before the deadline date; otherwise, the coach will be barred from the field and removed from the Provincial Roster.

For 'A' Teams, coaching accreditation will be assessed upon the submission of initial rosters. The Baseball Alberta Registrar will notify coaches not meeting the certification requirements, stating that if the Safe Sport E-Learning online course is not completed by the Provincial Championship weekend, the head coach will be disqualified from the field and removed from the Provincial Roster.

It is important to note that the Respect in Sport coaching module for other sports is equivalent to the requirement for baseball, but the Respect in Sport parent module (e.g., Hockey Alberta program) is not equivalent to the coaching module.
