Cruise

Splash! I heard the water hitting the side of the boat. I was in class, thinking of an adventure that would never be forgotten, the time I went on a cruise. My family said, while we were boarding the Carnival Cruise Line, “are you guys ready for the best time ever?!”

My family (Mimi, Aunt, Uncle, and cousins) woke up at 7:00 in the morning to get the 8:30 flight to Florida. Boy, I was not happy to get up that early! When I was walking onto the plane I said to my Mimi, “I am not ready for this!” Did I forget to tell you - it was my first time flying? One hour passed and my ears started to hurt. Overall, my first flight was not so bad, I liked the landing.

When I got to Florida, I called my mom. She was so happy to hear me! I thought she was being ridiculous, so I told her, “it has only been a day!” When we got the rental van we went to the hotel. We went out to eat then we came back to the hotel and went to sleep.“Tomorrow is going to be a big day, guys!” I said to my family.

When we all woke up it was around 8:30. After we got the bags in the car we went to the places where you get on to the cruises. We had to go past security two times. When we were done with security, the pack went over a glass bridge. At the end of the bridge there was the door that led into the cruise. I heard boom! boom! coming from my chest. I was so happy to be living on a boat for a week.

“Wow you're saying that I am German?” Going home thinking of my mysterious culture led me to an unexpected dream. As I drifted to sleep, I found myself walking through the streets of Germany. Handshakes were gliding towards me and frothy smells of beer scented the air. Something hit me in the face. It was this amazing smell. I overheard someone say, “In Germany, pork is the most consumed food that we eat.” I saw families sitting at their dinner tables eating Germany’s finest foods such as cabbage, beets, potatoes, and sauerkraut. This sparked a memory within a dream, weird, about mashed potatoes. Man, I really love my mom's mashed potatoes. But back to my dream...

Next thing I knew, I found myself walking on Oranienburger strasse street. The feelings of value, privacy, punctuality and hard work starts to increase as I make my way down the street. Those people got some skills. It was extremely hard to talk to people because 95 percent of Germans speak German. Wow, the word German, German and German kept repeating in my mind!

All of a sudden, shivers began to run down my spine. I could see my breath flowing out of my mouth. The winters in Germany sure are warm! Yeah, right. My face started to get frostbite and some folks invited me in their home for some hot chocolate. As I was drinking my hot chocolate, I saw a big green christmas tree with kids putting up ornaments. They were also singing the song ‘’Stille Nacht,” which is “Silent Night.”

The wind coming in from my window was blowing in my face. My dream stopped and I woke up hearing, ’’Jayden time for school!” In my head, I was thinking of my crazy German dream. It looks like I can tell Mrs. Zelena and Ms. Bartkus what I want to write for my culture report.

Trampolines can be fun. Because people like them so much, trampoline parks were built so people can enjoy them. Jumping up and down makes me think of the time I went to a trampoline park in Bethlehem, PA called Sky Zone! There are a lot of Trampolines parks around the country. In fact, “from 2010 to 2014, the number of trampoline parks went from 25 to more than 350….according to the International Association of Trampoline Parks,” (“Bouncing into trouble”).

With more parks come more problems. People must love to visit the emergency room more now these days! “Trampoline parks are becoming more common in the U.S., so are emergency room visits,” (Rapaport). “In 2014, injuries at trampoline parks accounted for almost 7,000 emergency room visits,” (Rapaport). “Children ages 6 to 17 accounted for the majority of injuries at home and at trampoline parks. But sprains were 61 percent more likely at trampoline parks,” (Rapaport). I wonder why people like the emergency room so much?

Kids like trampolines for the activities and making relationships (friends). Adrenaline run that they get from jumping up and down. Different parks around the world have different activities. “At these parks, trampolines are connected to each other. Kids often get hurt when they slam into each other or land on the hard frames. The most common injuries are sprains and broken bones. But more serious injuries, like neck fractures, also occur.

Trampoline parks usually have safety measures such as padded walls and employees who supervise the bouncing action. But Kasmire thinks jumping on a trampoline is always risky. She says, “kids should take precautions.”

Dear people with a crazy family,

My name is Jayden Solivan, let me tell you about my family. One phrase I would use to call my family is a “nutcase.” Going to the store is the hardest thing for my family. They are really loud. When we go, my 7 year old brother gets mad when he can’t get what he wants. My parents give in to him so he can stop be annoying. Then my parents are in a bad mood. This leads to yelling. My parents can’t stand it. I’m always walking away as people are staying away.

When my mom and my step dad get mad, they fight about stupid things.

‘’Did you give the dog water?’’

‘’Why do I gotta give the dog water?’’

“YOU’RE RIGHT THERE?’’

I can hear their ridiculousness from upstairs in my room.

You think you have it bad? Try being in the car with my family. They play the most obnoxious music. My stepdad likes to play songs that are weird to embarrass me by my friends. He sometime goes to my bus stop to embarrass me like always.

If you have a have a crazy loud family, just put really pumping music like rock or your favorite new song to stop the noise from coming upstairs. If putting on music doesn't help, try taking a walk or going out with a friend. I know I should not say this but sometimes I like going to school, but I really love my crazy family. I hope my tips help you get away from your lovely, I meant crazy, family.
