Outline of Steps for Support Staff Mentor Program
(Note: Days based on employment days)
Day One:
Report to Central Office for orientation
Day Two:
Report to assigned work area
Clock in
Meet building secretary/supervisor
Mentor contacts mentee introducing themselves via email (template if requested)
Complete the Support Staff Mentor Program Documentation Form
Two Weeks:
Mentor provides Components of Professional Practice Checklist to mentee
Documented 15-30 minute meeting (in person, zoom, or phone)
Complete the Support Staff Mentor Program Documentation Form
Two Months:
Mentee must have four goals to work toward by the end of the program (one for each category listed on the Components of Professional Practice Checklist)
Share/discuss four goals with mentor
Documented 15-30 minute meeting (in person, zoom, or phone)
Complete the Support Staff Mentor Program Documentation Form
(Hint: Easy way to remember required timeline 2-2-2)
Three Months:
Mentor and mentee review selected goals and discuss ways to achieve them
Documented 30-60 minute meeting (must be in person - likely outside of the work day-mentee paid, mentor part of stipend)
Suggested topic for discussion/completion - Category 1 - Components of Professional
Practice Complete the Support Staff Mentor Program Documentation Form
Six Months:
Review, discuss, and complete components outline
Documented 30-60 minute meeting (must be in person - likely outside of the work day-mentee paid, mentor part of stipend)
Suggested topic for discussion/completion - Category 2 - Components of Professional
Complete the Support Staff Mentor Program Documentation Form
Mentor submit required midpoint documentation to Human Resources (Jeffrey Baker)
Nine Months:
Discuss how goals are being met and other components that have been me
Documented 30-60 minute meeting (must be in person - likely outside of the work day-mentee paid, mentor part of stipend)
Suggested topic for discussion/completion - Category 3 - Components of Professional
Complete the Support Staff Mentor Program Documentation Form
Twelve Months:
Review all components have been met and examples provided in the components outline
Documented 30-60 minute meeting (must be in person - likely outside of the work day-mentee paid, mentor part of stipend)
Suggested topic for discussion/completion - Category 4 - Components of Professional
Presentation of certificate for graduating from Support Staff Mentor Program
Mentor and mentee complete Support Staff Mentor Program Survey
Mentor submit required completion documentation to Human Resources (Jeffrey Baker)
