Teachers for Global Classrooms
During the 2017-2018 school year, BAHS English teacher, Ashlie Crosson completed the Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) program. TGC is a fully-funded fellowship offered through the International Research Exchanges Board and the U.S. Dept of State. Each year, about 75 teachers are selected from the pool of applicants.
The Teachers for Global Classrooms fellowship includes:
- Completion of a semester-long intensive training course focused on global ed and incorporating global competencies into one's classroom, school, and community.
- Attendance at the annual TGC symposium in Washington, D.C.
- Participation in an international field experience. The FE's are 2-3 weeks and run during the spring or summer. Countries are chosen by the U.S. Dept of State and teachers are grouped based on preferences, previous travel experience, and group cohesion (among other things).
- Visit Miss Crosson's Travel Blog to read about her field experience in Morocco.
- Creation of this website! For the capstone project, each fellow is responsible for creating a global guide for his/her district to use as future reference for professional growth.
- Access to alumni grants and events to further implement and explore global education
