If your family has had a great experience with Special Education, that's wonderful! Share what makes it great, so they know how important it is!
One shoe will went to each family's assembly representative and the other will go to their state senator. We feel this is a good way to give families a visual representation of our children!
We are asking our legislators to increase Special Education reimbursement to at least 60% sum sufficient. Currently, our districts are only reimbursed for ~30% of Special Education expenses. This isn’t sustainable for our kids.
At 12:30 pm on March 19th 2025 we had an event at the Capitol in room 400 SE where the parent letters were displayed, and then delivered to your representatives along with a pair of children's shoes.
Since the last budget was passed, IN THE LAST TWO YEARS ALONE, 271 - that's 2/3 - of Wisconsin's 421 districts have gone to referendum (some more than once)
-Per the Wisconsin Public Education NetworkOur mission is to empower families with special needs attendance by providing essential grants to cover legal fees for wills, trusts, special needs trusts, power of attorney, guardianship, and other critical documents.

POST-SECONDARY/EDUCATION/EMPLOYMENT
Hesed Program at Concordia University-Wisconsin
Hesed Transition Program is a unique, post-secondary transition program that allows people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to realize their dream of receiving a college experience. The program affords students the opportunity to live on the CUW campus in integrated residence halls and attend classes that blend a liberal-arts focus with skills development. The curriculum aims to help students grow intellectually, vocationally, socially, personally, and spiritually, while also giving them some of the perks of a typical university-level experience.
An exciting update to the program is the development of concentrations” that will allow Hesed students to “specialize” in certain areas. Staff members are working to create clusters of CUW courses that will allow for students to develop knowledge and skills in one of the following areas: liberal arts, fine arts, business/hospitality, or education/social sciences. By completing an area of concentration, students will earn a digital badge that they can share on social media, email signatures, and resumes to demonstrate their skills to potential employers.
Hesed will be housed within Concordia’s School of Health Professions, which means CUW instructors will have greater opportunities to be involved with the program in the future. Watry-Christian anticipates integration of occupational therapy students as supports for the Hesed program, for example. Additional co-teaching opportunities between Hesed staff and CUW instructors will exist as well.

The goal of the ADRC is to empower individuals to make informed choices and to streamline access to the right and appropriate services and supports.
ADRCs provide a central source of reliable and objective information about a broad range of programs and services. They help people understand and evaluate the various options available to them. By enabling people to find resources in their communities and make informed decisions about long-term care, ADRCs help people conserve their personal resources, maintain self-sufficiency and delay or prevent the need for potentially expensive long-term care. ADRCs also serve as the single access point for publicly funded long-term care.
