Research and write up a method which explains how you will control significant variables (volumes/ concentrations/ temperatures/ stirring/ catalysts.) You will need to bring your method to your Core Practical 13b Laboratory session so that you can follow it.
1. Carry out & report suitable research into the techniques you could use. Include neat pencil drawn diagrams.
2. Updated the provided practical method by making improvements based on your research - so that the technique described will provide suitably controls variables and provides the best quantitative analysis to achieve accurate results.
CPAC 2c – Identifies and controls significant quantitative variables where applicable, and plans approaches to take account of variables that cannot readily be controlled.
· Identify the significant control variables (volumes/concentrations/temperatures/stirring/catalysts…)
· Plan how to control these variables (burettes/same solutions/waterbaths @ RT/no stirring/clean eqpt…
· Two or more students time reaction (to result in average time to end point calculation)
CPAC 5a - uses appropriate software and/or tools to process data, carry out research and report findings
· Carries out suitable research and writes up in own words citing relevant information, facts and figures within the text as necessary.
· Explain how your improvements provide suitably controls variables and provides the best quantitative analysis to achieve accurate results.
CPAC 5b – Sources of information are cited demonstrating that research has taken place, supporting planning and conclusions
· Clearly identifies any material that is a direct quote as such.
· Uses research to explain & support any alterations made
· Compiles a bibliography of texts from which material has been sourced in such a way that the reader may retrieve the information easily.
