As a Lighthouse School, our initiative is to implement the 8 habits following the Leader in Me program to develop leadership skills that will last long after graduation. These habits are taught and implemented throughout the school year. The 8 habits are also in correlation with all guidance classroom instruction for grades Kindergarten-6th grade.
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Habit 8: Find Your Voice
In conjunction with the teaching and implementation of the 8 habits from the Leader in Me program, guidance lessons are administered to all students in grades Kindergarten-6th grade beginning in September of each school year. Lessons are designed to align with ASCA (American School Counselor Association) mindsets and behaviors and are implemented with goals to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. Core curriculum that is used is entitled, Too Good. Check out their website here to learn more. Students will be provided direct instruction, twice each month, utilizing materials from the Too Good program.
