What is Dematting?

Dematting is the process of safely and carefully removing tangles or minor mats from your pet’s coat. This service is performed using specialized grooming tools and techniques designed to reduce discomfort while restoring your pet’s coat to a healthy, manageable condition.

Mild matting can often be worked out gently through brushing and coat separation. However, in cases of severe matting, a full or partial shave may be required for your pet’s safety and comfort.

Pricing

Dematting fees are applied in addition to the base grooming service price. Prices vary depending on coat condition, size of the pet, and severity of matting.

• Light Matting / Minor Tangles: $5-$10
  (Small areas of light tangling; easily brushed out with minimal discomfort.)

• Moderate Matting: $15-$30
  (Noticeable matting requiring extra time and care; additional brushing and product use required.)

• Severe Matting / Full Demat or Shave Down: $30+
  (Extensive matting across the body requiring clipping for the pet’s safety and well-being.)

Please Note:

If matting is determined to be too extensive or painful to brush out, a shave-down may be the only humane option. Your groomer will discuss the best and safest approach for your pet before proceeding
