The Nelson County Branch of the NAACP is pleased to announce that this year we will be offering a $500.00 scholarship to one graduating senior from Bardstown, Bethlehem, Nelson County, and Thomas Nelson High Schools. In addition, a member of the Nelson County Branch will be sponsoring a first-year membership to the NAACP for all four (4) award recipients.

This year’s NAACP Scholarship will emphasize the following criteria:

1. NEED: The NAACP’s priority is to help students who need financial assistance.

2. OPPORTUNITY FOR SUCCESS: This could be determined by the letter of reference from the student’s school counselor(s) or teacher(s).

3. DESIRE TO ATTEND COLLEGE OR CAREER INSTITUTION:  The student may express their desire to attend college or a career institution in a written essay.

4. ACADEMICS: Composite ACT score and cumulative grades (transcripts).

The deadline for submission of the application is 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025. If you have any questions, a member of the Nelson County NAACP Education Committee will be happy to assist you.
