This immersion in NYC public school after-school programs has provided me with really valuable perspective on STEM classrooms in elementary and middle school.

Teaching explorative problem solving with middle school students has been a great time. It's been a pleasure to work with such a motivated class.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to teach students with zero interest in math how to happily explore it. This experience solidified my belief that anyone can learn to love math.

Developing lessons plans, managing a team, coordinating events -- I gained a lot of valuable experience from this leadership role.

In the midst of the pandemic, I taught monthly origami classes online for the public. My students came from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and all arrived with a desire to learn and create. I am thankful I had this opportunity to bring a bit of joy to people in a dark time.

My first opportunity to independently plan and teach classes!  After learning from my Sensei's mentorship for 8 years, I was ready to pass on knowledge to the next generation of students.

Alongside my instructors, I learned how to support students younger and less experienced than myself, and in doing so strengthened my own martial arts abilities.
