My name is James (Jamie) McComas. I have been teaching in the Barberton City School District for 20 plus years. During my time in Barberton I have taught first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grade. I have been a middle school math teacher for the past 15 years, and teaching math is my passion. I truly love exploring the art of teaching and working with children who learn best in various ways. Therefore, expect your child to be very busy with activities and projects that he or she may not have experienced in math class in previous years.
Outside of the classroom, I really enjoy spending quality time with my family. I have 3 children. Kellen is 14 (almost 15) years old, Sophia is 12 years old, and Nolan is 7 years old. My wife, Sarah, is also a teacher. She has taught in Nordonia for the past 20 years. I look forward to teaching your child. I guarantee a challenging, enjoyable, and worthwhile experience!
In 7th grade, your child will grow in skill and understanding as he or she continues the previous grade’s work in proportional relationships, equations, and positive and negative numbers. These topics will remain a major emphasis throughout the middle school years and into high school. A good command of rates and proportional relationships, including percentages, is also an important life skill.
