Telehealth

What is Telehealth?

What is telehealth? Telehealth includes secure videoconferencing, emails, telephone conversations, and education using interactive audio, video, or data communications.

I want you to know telehealth services are reliable services and follows HIPAA compliance. According to HIPAA's Accountability Office, we can use Facetime, Google Meets, Google Hangouts, doxy.me, EMR, or TheraNest. doxy.me is set up for telehealth service.

What equipment do I need to join a session?

You will need the following to join a Telehealth (online therapy) session with your therapist:

● A computer, tablet, or phone (no applications or software download needed).

● An external or integrated webcam.

● An external or integrated microphone.

● An internet connection with a bandwidth of at least 10 MBPS.

We recommend an Ethernet cable over Wifi when possible to ensure you receive the best possible connection through your internet provider ( See below on Spectum offer).

Other things you need to keep in mind for telehealth.

1. Make sure the broadband in your home will support the use of video

2. We must maintain confidentiality, and thus we need to be mindful of where in your home you are during our sessions. Please make sure you are in a place where you can talk and have privacy.

3. Just like in the school settings, please refrain from using (texting, etc...) on your phone.

4. Please be prepared for our session, bring a list of things you want to work on, and all homework completed.

5. Be on time and if you have to cancel let me know.

6. Have earbuds or headphones handy and ready to use as this helps avoid feedback.

7. Have only 1 browser open if you are using a laptop or desktop

8. If the quality of video becomes a challenge, we will stop the video and continue with audio

9. Online sessions will be the same length of time 30-45 minutes and always free.

10. You need to be in California to use this service.

11. Please use self-care, have a positive mindset, and be safe.

13. If you do not have an appointment please email me.

14. Please make sure the parent or guardian has given us verbal or signed consent for telehealth services.
