Thesis
In the early 1900s, racial segregation and violence caused by Jim Crow laws in the South and economic tensions after World War I led to the migration of African Americans to the North as they sought better opportunities. Racial tensions followed and sparked the race riots in the Red Summer of 1919. This helped contribute to the rights and responsibilities in history because the outcome helped expose the need for more equality for African Americans and the effects helped create more rights for African Americans.
