College and career readiness involves more than completing coursework. Bandera High School P-TECH provides opportunities for students to explore careers, connect with professionals, visit colleges and workplaces, and develop the skills needed for success after graduation.
Experiences will vary by grade level, pathway, student readiness, partner availability, and program needs.
Students learn about colleges, careers, training programs, and professional opportunities they may not have previously considered.
Students practice communication, teamwork, problem-solving, organization, self-advocacy, and other skills valued by colleges and employers.
Students connect classroom learning to real careers through conversations and experiences with college representatives, employers, and community professionals.
BHS P-TECH offers Career Connections lunch sessions where students can meet local professionals, explore different careers, and ask questions about education, training, and workplace expectations.
Students have opportunities to speak with representatives from colleges, universities, technical programs, military branches, employers, and community organizations.
Students may participate in college presentations, campus visits, and activities designed to help them understand admissions, programs of study, college life, and available student support.
When available, students may visit local businesses and organizations to observe workplace environments and learn about different careers.
Students may have opportunities to connect with professionals, observe employees at work, and learn about the daily responsibilities associated with particular careers.
As partnerships and opportunities become available, students may participate in internships, supervised work experiences, or projects connected to their programs of study.
