Pupil Premium Funding

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Government to schools to support pupils who may face barriers to achieving their full potential. The funding is intended to help schools address the educational and wider inequalities that can affect disadvantaged pupils and to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Pupil Premium funding is primarily allocated to support pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or who have been eligible for FSM at any point during the previous six years (often referred to as Ever 6 FSM). Funding is also provided for certain other groups of pupils, including children who are looked after or who have previously been looked after.

At Baldwins Gate Primary School, our aim is to remove barriers to learning, improve educational outcomes and support the academic, social and emotional development of every child.

Funding may be used in a range of ways that help pupils to engage positively with school and achieve their full potential.

We recognise that pupils eligible for Pupil Premium are not a homogenous group and that their individual needs and barriers can vary. Our approach therefore uses evidence-informed strategies to provide effective support.

Schools are required to publish information about the Pupil Premium funding they receive, how the funding is being used and the impact of the approaches put in place.
