"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for everything you’ve done for me over the past few months. When we first started working together, way back when, to address the hip issues affecting my squats, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. But after the 12-week program, not only was my hip pain completely gone, but I also felt stronger and more balanced overall. Then, when the shoulder pain hit, I thought, 'Here we go again.' The pain was intense, and I couldn’t do any pushing movements, but your assessment and focused approach made all the difference. Six or so weeks later, I’m pain-free, and we’re starting to build strength in the shoulder again. There were definitely times when I felt discouraged, and some of the movements were tedious and monotonous, but you kept reminding me to trust the process, and I’m so glad I did. Now, I’m back to competing in Hybrid competitions at a high level, and I couldn’t have done it without your support, expertise, and annoyance. Thank you for everything."
Ricardo - CrossFitter, Hyrox Athlete, Hyrbid Athlete
"In early 2023 I tore my labrum and biceps anchor. I was misdiagnosed and developed frozen shoulder. I met with a surgeon and he decided that it was necessary to repair the tears and the scar tissue. I started physical therapy the day after the surgery. I saw 3 or 4 different physical therapists at that location and although they were supportive, it never seemed like I had a clear plan. It just seemed like I was spinning my wheels. I wanted to get back to my life, to doing all the things I enjoyed like yoga and weightlifting, and, quite frankly, just washing my hair. I had a lot of pain associated with this injury, was having a tough time, and I was starting to doubt that my shoulder would ever recover. Then I met Devin and I realized that what was missing was a very clear plan. He provided a very clear plan. I decided to leaving the clinic I had been at and began working with him full-time. I was recovered in 3 months and with his guidance I'm back to all the things I love. If someone is lucky enough to work with Devin post-injury or post-surgery I would highly recommend him."
Angela - Weightlifter
"The most valuable aspect of us working together was how much you were willing to listen."
Inaki - Olympic Weightlifter
"When we started, everything hurt. Now, the pain in my shoulder is gone, I'm hitting bench PRs and I'm squatting more than 465lbs again."
JP - Strongman
"I've suffered from long time shoulder discomfort for many years. I decided to see Devin at Back to Barbell and in 3 weeks time with his program I have just had miraculous changes. I have no more pain and I'm feeling stronger. I highly recommend Devin and Back to Barbell."
Chris - Cyclist/Skier
"I can tell it's working. I noticed the pain is slowly fading away. It used to bother me all day long. Now it's so minor and practically gone."
Ron - Active Adult
"When we started it was a constant ache every single day and driving was intolerable. Now I'm aware of symptoms twice per week, at most and I only notice it during training when I do too much volume for the upper back and shoulder together. And I'm still improving."
Kaela - Bodybuilder
"I had an irreparable complete thickness rotator cuff tear and I wanted to get back to bench pressing. When we started working together I had so much pain. Now I'm back to push ups, bench pressing and more. I didn't think it was possible but we did it."
John - Weightlifter
Nope! We work with all athletes and individuals drawing on an extensive background of sports experience and clinical training. All inquiries are welcome and if you're unsure we would be happy to discuss if we'd be a good fit! If we feel we aren't the best option to help you, we'll let you know and point you in the right direction!
We treat all musculoskeletal injuries across the spectrum of injury severity. We work with acute injuries, chronic injuries, post-surgical care, and pre-surgical care.
All current and former athletes are welcome. Our client roster has recently included participants in Olympic weightlifting, CrossFit, Hyrox, Strongman, Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, Cycling, Gymnastics, Soccer, Collegiate Swimming, Track & Field, and more. You name it, we've probably seen it.
We do not accept insurance, because it constrains our ability to work together in an effective manner. However, we can provide a receipt of payment and you are free to look into your HSA/FSA and see if this investment could be covered using those accounts. We also can provide an invoice for treatment that can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. We do this on a case by case basis. For those with high deductible insurance plans, many of our treatment options are more affordable than the self-pay rates at traditional physical therapy clinics and other out of network physical therapy clinics. Additionally we are working on ways of integrating insurance into our model without compromising our high standards of care.
Costs vary depending primarily on the treatment plans we offer
We believe that every individual and their injury are different and dedicate lots of time planning out individualized rehab programs. We only work 1:1 with our in person clients.
It's also usually the case with many injuries that 1-2 months just isn’t going to be in your best interest. Meaningful, long lasting progress takes TIME and CONSISTENCY. In the first 4-6 weeks, we're often just getting started.
Therefore, we ask for a minimum 3 month commitment. Most Back to Barbell clients work with us for 3-6 months. As a very general guide:
A 3 month in-person plan = ~$400-650 USD/month
A 3 month remote plan = ~$250 USD/month
[We offer flexible payment plans and other options as well]
We offer in-person and remote rehabilitation plans depending on the context of the situation. Plans vary in terms of the expected duration of care and frequency of visits. That said, the foundation of all of our plans is the same. A custom program, serial testing, and Back to Barbell Roadmap. This is the same for the entire Back to Barbell roster, whether we work together in-person or remotely. We have a substantial roster of remote clients who were either evaluated completely remotely or came for an initial evaluation session but subsequently only work with us remotely.
In short, it's not all that different from any other sound rehabilitation approach.
We learn your story
We perform extensive testing
We develop a plan from that testing
We communicate daily and weekly to adjust the plan based on your response and feedback
You save time and money!
This is a highly unique aspect of the Back to Barbell identity and one of the most rewarding ways we've developed for working with our athletes.
