This guide was developed by synthesizing publically available activities into a format that supports library and out of school time early learning educators. Our goal was to provide a vetted series that could be used to empower educators and learners of all ages.

Funding: Subaward from the NASA Science Mission Directorate's Science Activation 2.0 Broadening Participation with Ecosystem project.*
Background: The early childhood STEM kit and guide were initially created for use by rural libraries in Arizona. It was unveiled at the 2023 Arizona Library Association Conference and has since been made publicly available for anyone who wants to support early learners on their Walk in Wonder about science and space. It encourages children, caregivers, and educators to explore ideas from measurement to shadows with hands-on activities. The Kit and Guide help to create a foundation for STEAM learning through exploration and discovery.
If you do use the guide for programs, we ask that you let us know :)
* The STEAM Kit and Guide for Early Childhood Learning was developed as part of a broadening participation project seeking to share the assets of NASA-funded activities with a wide range of communities. The guide was developed by the Project Director (Kalman Mannis) of Rural Activation and Innovation Network (NSF drl#1612555) and Program Developer (Jeannie Colton) from Arizona State University's Center for Innovation in Informal STEM Learning (CIISL) under the auspices of Arizona Science Center with funding through a sub-award from NASA Science Activation 2.0 Broadening Participation with Ecosystems (NASA #80NSSC210007).
