Mandy Clegg is entering her 3rd year with Chandler Children’s Choir as the director of the Junior and Encore Choirs. She began her choir directing journey at Benjamin Franklin High School in Queen Creek when the school opened in 2013 and loved teaching there until 2018 when she left to stay home with her first child. She holds a BM in Voice Performance from the University of Arizona where she sang with Symphonic Choir from 2004-2008 under the direction of Dr. Betsy Schauer, and received her MME from ASU in 2013 where one of the highlights for her was assistant conducting Choral Union under the direction of Dr. Kira Zeeman Rugen. A private teacher and active singer, she maintains a small studio and sings with choirs around the valley including the Sonoran Desert Chorale (2019-2021), Solis Camerata, and Cinematic Pop. She is thrilled to be part of the Cantaremos Festival this year.
Andrea Squires is a private voice teacher and choral clinician who loves helping singers reach their musical goals and realize their potential. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the State University of New York at Geneseo and her Master of Music in Choral Music Education from Arizona State University.
Andrea taught at Desert Canyon Middle School in Scottsdale, Arizona, for 13 years. During her time at DCMS the size of the choral program doubled with about 40% of the school population singing in choir. The auditioned choir, DC Voices, was invited to sing at the Arizona Music Educators Association Conference 3 times. From 2011 to 2022 she directed the advanced middle school choir at Phoenix Children’s Chorus and taught music literacy. She has directed her choirs at AzACDA Symposiums, the Oregon Bach Festival, Carnegie Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.
Andrea’s private voice students earn lead roles in school and community theatre, win classical singing competitions, and many go on to major in music at prestigious colleges and conservatories. She is honored to work with amazing young people.
