Mural

During the 2017-2018 school year I was asked to take over the AV-W Mural Crew with select 8th grade students. I have enjoyed coaching these students and helping them leave their mark on AV-W.

2017-2018

This mural was led by Tierney Edwards and created by a group of girls who wanted their mural to be bright and fun and different than the rest. The main themes represented in this year’s mural are Disney, the 8th grade expeditions/class trips, oceans/lakes, and sports the girls compete in (volleyball, skiing, swimming, softball).
This mural is a representation of the places the 8th grade class went during their time together. As a crew, they journeyed to Fort Wilderness, the Grand Theater, Northcentral Technical College, Duluth, and LUHS. They also went to Rhinelander for their Heavy Metal Tour.
Fun Facts: There are 22 hidden Mickey Mouses for their love of Walt Disney World and because they will graduate high school in 2022.
Students that worked on this mural: Gracie Acklam, Abby Crandall, Hayle Driver, Kacee Geisler, Naomi Hamerla, Haley Pacala, Kiera Rotar, Alysse Teichmiller, Ruby Valadez, Stephanie VanAcker

2018-2019

This mural was led by Tierney Edwards and a small group of 8th grade students. It is a representation of this crew’s 8th grade year. They chose each image based on a memory they created at AV-W, and each image has been placed on the mural with a great deal of thought.
The alien let’s us know that it is ok to be different. The road to space lets us know that you can go anywhere. Success and adventure await you after your time at AV-W.
Fun Facts: Each artist painted 2 stick figures in the mural. There are 12 total.
One of the artists nickname was BearPole which she got after an exciting backpacking trip with Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen. On this trip they also came out of the water with leeches on them, which is represented on the rocks. The bowling ball represents bowl-a-rama.
Students that worked on this mural: Abi Allen, Isabel Debauche, Keith Felch, Kristiina Kunelius, Lindsay Mleko, Belle Wright
