Desert Knolls School was built in 1961 as part of the Victor Elementary School District. Desert Knolls opened its doors to 1st through 6th graders in the fall of 1961. At that time, kindergartners were bused to Del Rey School in Victorville. In the fall of 1987, Desert Knolls School joined the Apple Valley Unified School District and is currently one of eleven elementary schools in Apple Valley. Due to the rapid growth of the area, several additions to the school have been required since 1961. The new additions were completed in 1990. That same year, Desert Knolls went to a multi-track, year-round schedule. With the opening of Vista Campana in 1992, Desert Knolls changed from a K-6 school to a K-5 school. In 1995, A.V.U.S.D. changed to a modified traditional schedule for grades K-12.
We welcome all of our families past and present to join us in celebrating our momentous history.
Desert Knolls uses a student centered approach to empower and inspire all students to become lifelong learners.
