We are so thrilled to welcome you to a brand new school year! Our first day of school is Thursday, August 6th. To help your family get ready, we mailed a complete start-up information packet this week, which you can also easily access using the links below. Please take a moment to review the information, complete the dismissal form, and log in to your AVUSD Focus Parent Portal account to submit your "Back to School Forms." We appreciate your help in getting everything set up and can’t wait for a fantastic year ahead!

Our History
Our History
Desert Knolls School was built in 1961 as part of the Victor Elementary School District. Desert Knolls opened its doors to 1st through 6th graders in the fall of 1961. At that time, kindergartners were bused to Del Rey School in Victorville. In the fall of 1987, Desert Knolls School joined the Apple Valley Unified School District and is currently one of eleven elementary schools in Apple Valley. Due to the rapid growth of the area, several additions to the school have been required since 1961. The new additions were completed in 1990. That same year, Desert Knolls went to a multi-track, year-round schedule. With the opening of Vista Campana in 1992, Desert Knolls changed from a K-6 school to a K-5 school. In 1995, A.V.U.S.D. changed to a modified traditional schedule for grades K-12.
