CTE At A Glance
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context.
CTE currently offers training based upon current and future labor market demands. CTE programs are focused on industry sectors where there is proven local industry demand and sufficient student interest and need.

CTE helps students discover their interests and their passions and empowers them to choose the educational pathway that can lead to success in high school, college and career.
Industry experience is one of the unique qualifications that our CTE teachers bring to the classroom. CTE can help you get the skills and experience needed to get a job of your choice. Some classes include the opportunity to actually do your training with local businesses.
How are CTE classes taught?
CTE classes are conducted in classrooms equipped to industry standards. Classes are a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training taught by highly-qualified professionals from the industry who are credentialed through the California Commision on Teacher Credentialing to teach in their areas of expertise.
Can I get college credit for taking CTE classes?
CTE not only offers many UC A-G approved courses but many courses are articulated with Victor Valley College and offers students the opportunity for postsecondary credit. Articulation is an agreement between the school district and a local community college. When a high school course is articulated with a college course, it means that the student who passes the high school course will be able to earn college credits for that course.
To earn college credit, a student must complete a full year of the high school CTE course and earn a "B" in both semesters.
