A Time for Progress and Gratitude: Robles Elementary's November Highlights
Dear Robles Bobcat Families,
I am excited to share some fantastic news with you! After all the hard work and dedication of our incredible staff and students, Robles Elementary has received a 'C' rating from the State. This marks a significant improvement from last year, and we are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made together. Our goal for next year is to continue building on this momentum to reach a 'B' rating. With our collective focus on student learning and achievement, I am confident that we can reach this milestone.
As November arrives, we are reminded of the importance of honoring those who have served our country. In recognition of Veterans' Day, we will be hosting a special Veterans' Luncheon on Friday, November 8th. This event is our way of saying thank you to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. We invite all Veterans in our community to join us for this special event.
We also want to encourage parents to support their children’s learning at home. For students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, building strong reading and math skills is critical. Set aside time each evening for reading, whether it’s your child reading to you or vice versa. Discuss what they’ve read to help improve comprehension. For math, practice counting, simple addition or subtraction, and identifying shapes for younger students. Older students can work on multiplication facts, fractions, or real-life math situations like counting change or measuring ingredients in the kitchen.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school and your child’s education. Together, we can ensure that every student at Robles continues to succeed!
Warm regards,

Fostering Skills and Values: The 3rd Grade Bobcats’ Journey
Teachers: Alize Sapien & Terrylyn Leonor
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We’re thrilled to share what our 3rd Grade Bobcats have been working on since the start of the school year. Our students have been dedicating a lot of time to important tests such as State Benchmarks, Acadience, and CBM. In addition, our focus has been on following the Bobcats ROAR rules at Robles, which emphasize being respectful, open-minded, accountable, and responsible. These values help ensure that our students are on their best behavior and serve as positive role models for our younger Bobcats.
Reading and Writing
In Reading, we’re focused on helping students enhance their skills by understanding main ideas in informational texts, identifying themes and the author’s purpose, and analyzing text organization and points of view. Our aim is to develop strong readers by improving Fluency, expanding vocabulary, and fostering a love for reading.
In Writing, we aim to simplify the writing process using the RACER strategy, where students Restate questions, Answer them, Cite evidence, Explain their meaning, and Restate their points. We emphasize crafting strong topic sentences, recognizing the writer’s purpose, practicing opinion writing, and incorporating descriptive details. Our goal is to help students express their ideas clearly, share their opinions effectively, and infuse creativity into their writing!
Mathematics
In mathematics, we are supporting students improve their understanding of addition and subtraction with 3 digit numbers. This year students will continuously practice multiplication facts with flashcards and other resources. Our intention is to grow students’ automaticity in multiplication so it comes more naturally to students. We are also working on building the foundational skills of regrouping when it comes to subtraction with three digit numbers.
Year-end Goals!
At the end of the year, our students take many assessments. They must be reading 118 words per minute for the Move on When Reading requirement. In Math they need to correctly complete 40 digits in multiplication. Parents, you can help make this happen by encouraging your kids to read at home, using the flashcards from teachers, and helping with homework. Let’s work together— students and parents—to celebrate everyone’s hard work. Together, we can set big goals, chase our dreams, and keep working toward excellence! Your support really makes a difference!
