As we near the end of November and head into December I sit here reflecting on the school year. We have had a lot of successes this year; however, our letter grade of B is definitely one of our proudest moments. This did not happen without a lot of hard work on the part of all teachers, staff, and students. We will continue to work hard to keep us moving forward. We have all heard the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words” so I have decided to share with you some of the ways our amazing teachers are engaging our students, building skills, and making connections

A focus wall connects teachers and students to the expectations for the week. Each teacher posts their objective and standards that will be addressed in the lesson. When students understand the objective then connections are made and retention of learning takes place.

Classroom expectations help guide learning. Anchor charts provide students with visual support during the learning process.

Teachers engage students by using interactive boards that allow students to take an active role in learning. Teachers and students continually look at data to help guide their learning. Collectively we are setting goals and finding attainable ways to make progress. I am very proud of the students and staff at AVMS!
