"Gratitude turns what we have into enough." — Aesop
Danny Contreras, also known as “Dynamic” Danny was introduced to AVP in 2006 while incarcerated at Soledad State Prison in California. He will share how when AVP came to the yard that he was on, there was a significant change among the men there. He became a facilitator while there and after over 14 years he came home to the Salinas Valley area. He has been out over 15 years now. Since home, Danny has partnered with his local council to expand AVP workshops and strengthen community impact. He went to Sacramento with Pat Hardy to speak up for the inmate population to get milestone credits for doing AVP and he organized his first AVP community workshop in 2012. While working with the county of Santa Cruz, he has been able to make nearly a dozen workshops happen in the community.
He continues to support AVP’s mission by organizing workshops, mentoring others, and contributing to the growth of nonviolent communities. His journey reflects the ongoing impact of AVP in both institutional and community settings.
