Ensure families and school staff work together to support and improve students' learning, development, and health. In addition, promote parental participation in programs for low income, English learners, foster youth pupils, and students with special needs.
Communication: Continue weekly communication with parents through Parent Square, Aeries Communications and other forms of electronic communication. Use Bilingual staff to assist with interpretation and translation services at all levels of communications including, parent meetings and advisory committees, Site Councils, DELAC, School Board Meetings and other school committees. Increase bilingual efficacy of staff by sponsoring or supporting training and resources for improving Spanish language skills. Continue to partner with Anderson Valley Advertiser (digital and hard copy) to communicate with families and the community. Make website more user friendly for parent/guardians
Communicate Student Progress:

Implement 6 year Personal Learning Plans for each AVHS student to review student progress and engage parents in student academic progress. Support the parent-student-teacher connection through ongoing communication of progress on Personal Learning Plans with parents in addition to two in person meetings per year. Ensure that advisor assignment remains stable for the two years of Middle School and the Four Years of High School. Revamp PLP form to include review of A-G and CTE Pathways and graduation requirements in order to communicate progress towards A-G and CTE)
AVES
Offer Parent Teacher Conferences two times per year, access to Aeries Parent Portal and evening activities such as: Back to School Night, Family Arts Night, and Open House to review student progress. Coffee with the Principal and ELAC.
Events: Provide opportunities for parents and families to participate in school functions through volunteer opportunities and extracurricular activities and opportunities for parents on supporting student academic success by creating supportive home environments for student learning. Require parents of students participating in Athletics to attend an athletics/drug education meeting.
Panther Parent Squad: fosters safety on campuses.
Improve social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students by utilizing Tier 1 Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and restorative practices at all grade levels.
Establish a district-wide PBIS team that aligns K-12 behavior education for all students, provides proper release time for teams to collaborate and develop trainings for all staff.
Establish and implement positive reward systems (student store, rewards center, etc)
AVES: Monthly assemblies and recognition for attendance and student behavior
Ensure proper supervision of students before school, at lunch, during recess and after school.
Supervisory staff are trained in proper safety and PBIS procedures.
Establish systems and procedures to ensure effective discipline strategies (accountability systems, in-house suspensions, reflective detention, community service).
AVES: Implement a Restorative and Positive Intervention Classroom to support decreasing the Suspension rate (and increase student engagement and attendance).

SEL Curriculum: Implementing CASEL aligned SEL curriculum for AVES: Lower Grades: Second Step, Upper Grades: Character Strong
Provide counseling and mental health services to all students as needed or requested. Collaborate with outside agencies (such as Keystone Therapies) and Drug and Alcohol education and therapy to provide services that are not provided internally due to staffing limitations.
Coordinate with vendors such as MCHaven and Project Sanctuary for educational opportunities (programs began in spring 2023 and will continue).
Beginning in Fall 2023, implement Stop It Anti-Bullying App to increase support and reporting of bullying incidents and connect students to supports.
Increase family support with Panther Parent Squad to foster safety on campuses (program began in spring 2023 and will continue).
Ensure opportunities for learning about and developing healthy lifestyles.
Physical Fitness: Physical education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviors for healthy active living, physical fitness, sportsmanship, self-efficacy, and emotional intelligence .Students in grades K-6 receive a 200 minutes bi-weekly or 400 minutes bi-weekly (7-8).
Nutrition Education: Healthy eating has been linked in studies to improved learning outcomes and helps ensure that students are able to reach their potential.Provide nutrition education for students in grades K-6 including garden activities and lunchtime support for helping students make healthy food choices.
Prevention programs: Offer substance abuse education programs and health classes
Drug and Alcohol Prevention: Provide Drug and Alcohol counselor two days per week (K-12). In partnership with the Health Center, provide on demand drug testing and vape detectors.
Anderson Valley Health Center: Continue to foster collaborative partnerships with the Anderson Valley Health Center (vaccination, Human Health Development, COVID testing, other needs of the community) and support capacity building within the Health Center.
Walk to School Day: Walk to school day (1.6 miles) AVES.
Analyze the extent to which the school community is respectful and accepting of all ethnic, racial, religious, sexual-orientation, and gender-identity and gender expression persons. Develop and implement a plan based on this analysis.
Support and implement preschool inclusion
Deferred Maintenance: Update items, to the extent possible, to ensure the health and safety of all students (septic, water systems, heaters, HVAC systems, fire valve systems, asphalt, shop updates).

The Measure M Bond construction will focus on the reconstruction of the high school science rooms and library, un-remodeled wing of the high school, gender neutral bathrooms and elementary septic.
Other priority areas include: communication system, walkways, track and field (if partnership can be found), re-painting interiors and exteriors through the district.
Aggressively seek OPSC Hardship funding to restore campus to appropriate levels.
Note: Construction Schedule pending DSA permit review but expected to commence Sewer in summer 2023 and High School remodel in Summer 2024.
Continue to foster a strong sense of community within the schools, the district and community at large.
Continue to foster Partnerships with community partners to enhance student experiences (internships, community service, etc)
By March of each year, provide and enhance educational partner engagement opportunities (parent/guardians, classified, students, staff) of the LCAP/SPSA/WASC processes (site council meetings, Hub website, surveys, and events). Continue to provide documentation of the impact the educational partner input had on the development of these documents in the LCAP section “ Engaging Educational Partners.”
