"My goal is to travel the world with my camera and capture different people and cultures. I want to bring awareness to various humanitarian and environmental issues through visual education. I genuinely believe that movies and pictures can be the most impactful way to encourage people to care about others. As I like to say, "You don't need to be a perfect person to be a good person. Taking steps to leave the Earth better than I found it is something I strive to do every day."
"I strive to create in a way that impacts and inspires others and builds an environment of love and compassion where all are welcome.
For each piece I create, I always aim to add meaning. When trying to convey this meaning, I try to be fairly vague; this is because I want every viewer to find their own personal meaning in my work, whether it aligns with what I intended them to see or not. One example of this is my colored pencil figure drawing of three plus-sized models, “Rename Beautiful.” My assignment was simple - complete three figure drawings. But I wanted to take the project a step further. I decided to combine the three figures into a series and silently present a conversation starter about beauty. It is my intention that this piece presents new meaning to beauty. It emphasizes that we are all beautiful and unique, inside and out. It is my hope that when viewers see this drawing, their definition of beauty is challenged and potentially altered. The meaning of my pieces may be simple or broad, but my hope is that each viewer will find something significant to them.
It is also my hope to create an environment with my work where all people feel welcome and loved. I hope to challenge the flaws of the world and to enact change slowly, artwork by artwork. I hope to offer compassion to the suffering, companionship to the lonely, love to the unloved. Creating art that center around love and acceptance is just one way I hope to do that."
"My artwork is a mix of videography and photography, commonly putting forth a message or having an underlying meaning. My main focus of my artwork, specifically film, is to convey that message and match the mood to give audience a comfortable atmosphere. The audience will have found videos portraying social issues, such as anxiety, vulnerability, horror, Generation Z, my own life growing up, etc.
While making videos, I not only film, but I edit. Many of the videos I produce take much longer because I want to make sure there are no errors . In my collaboration piece, "Emelia", it focuses on who I am and how one might see me. During the process, there were multiple pieces that needed to be taken into account. We started by figuring out in general what we would do, then how we would film it, and how I would edit. After a few hours of filming the artwork being created, it was time to begin the post-production. Because editing can be such a tedious work, it took quite a while. Though, by end, I was extremely proud of it. By showing my friends, family, quotes, favorite YouTubers, bands, and others, I was able to encapsulate myself well.
The goal of my art is to send a meaningful, welcoming message to the audience, and to put my best work forward."
"Hello, my name is Hannah Kim and I'm a portfolio student at Avonworth High School. Through a variety of media - digital, traditional, and painting - my work reflects the best of my creativity. As an artist, I am essentially interested in creating works that capture the ideas and imaginations floating in my head. There is no over-arching theme to my portfolio as I am still growing and acknowledging more of the artistic world; however, there is a solid foundation for the upcoming path I am soon to explore: 3D animation and game design. "In my art , I like to think of it as saving my memories into art. I capture moments in my life that bring me joy, so I can have that moment forever. I like to go about my art tasks in creative ways, and think outside the box."
"When I go out into the world with my camera I have one simple objective, to capture life in every one of its moments. A person on their way to work, a student on the way to class, a musician playing guitar in the city streets, an abandoned building, a sprawling landscape. Everything in this world has a story attached to it, weather it be people, animals or an inanimate object. My photos aim to capture these stories in a standstill. When taking a photo, I ask myself what kind of story does this photo tell."
"During the day, I am in school and, at night, I create different media. I Like painting, media art, and making bread. Typically I screenprint on shirts But, sometimes I will do other styles and methods. Currently, I am doing an assistantship program at Artist Imagery Resource where I am learning about screening printing. I get my main inspiration from brands like Steel City or Yat Cat Print Co. "
