About me

Welcome!

My name is Mrs. Wyatt and I will be your scholar’s teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. I am really excited about this new school year! This is my second year at Avondale, but this is my 13th year teaching Science, with the first 11 years being in Detroit. It is my FIRST year teaching Intro to Technology 6!

A little about myself… I was born and raised in Haslett, Michigan, which is located right near East Lansing, Michigan. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University with endorsements in Science and Literacy. I plan to integrate reading skills into everything we do in science, since the ability to read and comprehend informational text is so crucial to student success. I have also received my master’s degree from Grand Valley State University in the field of Educational Technology. I live in Madison Heights with my husband and our two boys, Matthew and James.

As a teacher, I have high expectations of all of my students. They will have several responsibilities as we work together this school year. It is my goal for students to not only learn the content, but also responsibility, team work, and good work ethic. Because of this, I will be expecting students to manage their assignments, their missing work, and to keep on top of their grade independently. Students and parents will be expected to check the digital gradebook regularly, as it will be regularly updated. My turnaround time on grading assignments is typically 24 hours, but with bigger assignments may be up to 48 hours.
